L. Cornelius Lentulus and C. Claudius Marcellus, 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.90 g, 3 h), military mint travelling with Pompey in the East. Triskeles, with winged head of Medusa facing at center; stalk of grain between each leg. Rev. COS / LENT - MAR Jupiter standing front, head to right, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and eagle in his left; in field to right, harpa. Babelon (Cornelia) 64 and (Claudia) 9. Crawford 445/1a. RBW 1561. Sydenham 1029a. Beautifully toned. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
